 Jika selama ini kita sering menjumpai Linux disandingkan dengan sistem operasi lain dalam bentuk dual booting. Kali ini Toko Linux akan memberikan tutorial bagaimana menjalankan Linux (Ubuntu 7.10 tapi tidak menutup kemungkinan menggunakan distro lain) langsung dari Windows. Apa maksud langsung disini? Artinya Windows sudah jalan seperti biasa, kemudian kita menjalankan Ubuntu di dalam Windows tersebut tanpa harus restart Windows-nya. Bisakah? Bisa!
Rahasianya ada pada software emulator. Dengan menggunakan software ini, kita dapat mengemulasi sistem operasi apa pun (termasuk windows juga). Ada banyak sekali software emulator yang dapat kita gunakan, yang paling terkenal (dan tercepat) tentunya adalah vmware, namun dalam tutorial kali ini kita gunakan Qemu.
Yang harus Anda siapkan:
- Portable Harddrive (USB Flash) dengan space kosong minimal 1GB atau 2GB lebih baik
- Komputer dengan sistem operasi Windows
- ISO Ubuntu 7.10
- QPU710.exe
Langkah-langkahnya adalah sebagai berikut:
- Buat Folder QPU710 di USB Flashdisk atau di Desktop Windows Anda
- Download QPU710.exe dan jalankan, extract isinya ke dalam folder/direktori QPU710 yang sudah Anda buat tadi
- Siapkan ISO Ubuntu 7.10, kalau belum punya bisa download atau beli di Toko Linux Online Yogyakarta :) pindahkan ISO tersebut ke folder atau direktori QPU710
- Klik file QPU710.bat untuk menjalankan Ubuntu
- Ketika boot menu muncul, dengan cepat tekan tombol F6 untuk memilih pilihan custom boot menu, tambahkan kata persistent di akhir string
- Biarkan proses booting selesai dan tadaaaa Anda sudah berhasil menjalankan Ubuntu di Windows
Daftar Perintah Qemu untuk memudahkan pengoperasian:
Click within the Qemu Window to use the Ubuntu desktop
Press Ctrl+Alt to switch to and from the Host desktop
Press Ctrl+Alt+F to toggle full screen on or off
Press Ctrl+Alt+2 to switch to the Qemu Monitor (and type help for command list)
Press Ctrl+Alt+1 to switch from Qemu Monitor back to Linux
